Single Point Mooring Chafe Chain
Jerryborg Marine provides abrasion chains for connection points between tankers and single-point mooring buoys. Their primary function is to replace synthetic cables, bearing the wear and tear from contact with the hull and preventing damage to the cables from the ship’s structure during use. For single-point mooring operations, OCIMF has long provided recommendations for the use of bow mooring components on tankers and has clarified the selection requirements for abrasion chains in its latest guidelines. According to the 2018 OCIMF first edition, abrasion chains typically use R3 or R4 grade and must meet the relevant IACS W22 specifications. Jerryborg Marine’s abrasion chains and related components are selected and manufactured according to these requirements and can be configured and adjusted according to actual project needs.
Regarding the scope of supply, Jerryborg Marine can provide Type A and Type B abrasion chains that meet the requirements of OCIMF 2018, first edition. Type B is suitable for vessels with a deadweight tonnage not exceeding 350,000 tons. We also offer Type A and Type B anti-wear chains that meet the requirements of OCIMF 1993 Third Edition. In addition, we can supply commonly used connecting components such as weak couplings, Kent shackles, connecting shackles, and triangular plates, as well as related components for the upper part of single-point mooring systems.
