In 2024, Jerryborg supplied and installed a permanent boom system at the Chinese Navy’s regular submarine dock in eastern China. The client chose us as the supplier to provide the boom to prevent oil spills during the refueling and maintenance of the submarines at this location. After a site visit, our team found that the seawater in this area is relatively calm, and there is little tidal movement. After final discussions, we recommended a permanent polyurethane boom with floats and stainless steel ballast chains. We deployed the permanent boom in a curved shape in the sheltered harbor area near the jetty. The total deployment length is about 800 meters….
We often see how oil and other fluids safely transfer from the middle of the ocean to the ships offshore. Have you ever wondered how that’s even possible? The answer lies in the robust structure of submarine hoses. Without them, the offshore oil and gas industries would not run as smoothly as they do today. However, these hoses are not as simple as they seem. They have complex construction and need careful installation. Moreover, these hoses also come in various types, each specific for different duties. Are you new to this? Worry not! In this article, I will walk you through everything you need to know about submarine hoses….
In the past, there were very limited types of hoses available. They were mostly weaker and not suitable for transporting abrasive materials. Things have changed mainly due to slurry hoses. These are heavy-duty and designed to carry high-pressure slurry with ease. What makes them stand out is their robust steel wire reinforcements. You’re in the right place if you know nothing about slurry hoses. In this article, I will explain everything related to slurry hose and its types. You will also learn how to choose a high-quality slurry hose that fits your needs. So, let’s get started! What is a Slurry Hose? Before going into details, let’s first…
When it comes to fluid transfer, hoses play a vital role. However, they come in several types, each specific for distinct jobs. Among those, composite hoses excel due to their unique structure and composition. They offer a leak-proof transfer of regular liquids to hazardous fluids. However, many still ask: what is a composite hose, and how does it work? Knowing this question is crucial for proper usage. What if you pick up a composite hose to transfer chemicals while it is designed to handle cooking oil? It will definitely end up with serious safety risks. Hence, in this article, I will give you a complete understanding of composite hoses…
As you know, millions of gallons of chemicals, water, and fuel move worldwide through ocean means. But how are those harmful chemicals transported safely? The answer lies in marine hoses—special tubes to ensure leak-free transfer of different fluids. Without these hoses, global shipping and port operations would not be possible. Marine hoses come in different types, each designed for specific purposes. Understanding those types and applications is crucial. Using the wrong hose can lead to leakage, serious hazards, and costly damage. So what exactly is a marine hose, how does it work, and what are its types? This guide will answer all your queries in an easy-to-understand way. So,…
Ships and vessels exhibit anchoring more often to stay stable in water. This practice ensures the safety of vessels during harsh weather conditions. However, anchoring is not as easy as it seems. Small mistakes can result in wrong anchoring. Therefore, knowing what should be avoided when anchoring is very important. Have you ever heard of failed anchoring efforts? That happens when a ship or vessel does not anchor correctly. As a result, it keeps moving or drifting instead of staying at one point. Anchoring quickly and correctly is what every ship pilot loves. In this article, you’ll learn about the mistakes that must be avoided for smooth anchoring. So,…
Fenders protect the boats and large ships effectively. However, if their size is inaccurate, their effectiveness can be affected. The right size matters when it comes to fenders. People seem to be double-minded when choosing the right size of fender. So, they ask: What size boat fenders do I need? Interestingly, there is no single-size fit for all the boats. Instead, the size of fenders varies depending on the size of vessels and ships. Small boats will need small fenders, and vice versa. In this article, I will explain the fender size for different ships. Ultimately, you’ll know how to choose the right size of fenders. So, let’s get…
Boating fenders are excellent accessories that have been used for many decades. They protect the boats from damage during collisions. However, they can only do their job effectively when deployed at the right time. Right? This brings a question: when should you put fenders on your boat? This question looks simple; the answer is like when you’re about to dock. Right? But that’s not the complete answer. There are many scenarios where you should put the fenders on a boat. In case of negligence, boats can face severe impacts. In this article, I’ll explore all those possible scenarios where you should be ready to put fenders. Let’s get started!…
The correct size of the anchor line ensures the smooth stay of boats and vessels. This size varies with the water conditions, tides, and weather. So, you’ll have to calculate the right size of anchor line every time you want to anchor your boat. However, this calculator is very tricky and can easily confuse many. There arises a question: how long should your anchor line be? The answer to this question depends on the weather and water depth. Once you know these two parameters, calculating the right size becomes easy. There is a simple formula and mathematical calculation to find the size of the anchor line. In this article,…
Marine fenders and airbags have become a must-have for maritime industries. Vulcanized rubber is generally used to make those airbags. This rubber is strong, durable, and elastic, making it ideal for bear shocks and wear. However, many people ask: does vulcanized rubber airbag use talcum powder? The answer is YES. Most marine or automobile airbags use talcum powder. This powder provides durability, offers better handling, and reduces stickiness. Remember, its usage is optional but not mandatory. However, using it will make the airbag more premium in terms of performance. Remember, airbags make vessels and their journey safer and smoother. However, manufacturing those airbags is not as straightforward as…
