Ship Launching Airbag | Tugboat Construction Project | Indonesia

This client is an Indonesian shipyard that builds tugboats and engineering vessels. Because the shipyard uses airbags for launching, they replenish their inventory of launching airbags every few years.

When the client contacted Jerryborg Marine, they had already decided to purchase 1.8 m × 20 m airbags. They had purchased similar products before, so size wasn’t their primary concern. They were more interested in the airbags’ lifespan and whether their condition would change significantly after multiple launches.

The client then sent us their vessel information. During our communication, they mentioned a batch of old airbags that had been used many times; although still usable, surface wear was quite noticeable, so they wanted new airbags prepared in advance.

After confirming the configuration, Jerryborg Marine arranged production. During production, the client’s most frequent questions were about the testing process, as they didn’t want problems to be discovered after the product arrived on-site. We sent the client test photos and finished product photos for confirmation before arranging shipment.

After the airbags arrived at the shipyard, they were quickly put into use for launching new vessels. The client later reported that the launching process went smoothly, and the airbags rolled normally. For shipyards, launching airbags are long-term equipment, so in addition to this project, they will continue to use these airbags in future shipbuilding plans.
